Safety Issues

Primary Causes: Traffic Speeds (too fast or too slow)

Safety can be impacted en-route to, or within a Federal land due to motorist traveling too fast, or too slow. Image 1 shows an example of portable speed message sign, and Image 2 shows a speed sign that provides a minimum, as well as a maximum speed.

A trailer unit that has a speed limit sign indicating the speed of 20 mph, and an electronic sign that shows a vehicle was going 30 miles per hour.a speed sign that provides a minimum, as well as a maximum speed.

The possible solutions to address traffic speeds includes modifying the infrastructure (road/intersections), using ITS to show motorists their speeds, using policies to increase enforcement of speed limits, or using an educational campaign to increase the focus on speed limits.
