Commercial Vehicle Operations (CVO)

General Description:
ITS in commercial vehicle operations (trucking) applications applies Global Positioning Systems (GPS – uses satellites to locate vehicles) and other technologies primarily to increase the efficiency of freight movement and fleet management.
Examples of this application include:
These types of technologies can be used to classify and divert certain vehicles from routes through Federal lands, track vehicles including transit operations, and assign tolls to certain vehicles.
