Wyoming Forest Highway 23 / Louis Lake (Loop Road)

The Central Federal Lands Division of the Federal Highway Administration, in cooperation with the Shoshone National Forest, the Wyoming Department of Transportation, and Fremont County, has prepared a Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and Record of Decision (ROD) for a proposed project on a portion of Wyoming Forest Highway 23, also known as Louis Lake Road or Loop Road. The proposed project begins at the existing end of pavement near Bruce's Bridge (10 miles south of Lander) and continues approximately 7.1 miles south to Worthen Meadows Road.

Fully evaluated alternatives include no-action, reconstruction with a gravel surface, and reconstruction with a paved surface. The preferred alternative is reconstruction with a paved surface, including a chip seal wearing surface.
