Colorado Forest Highway 81 / Tarryall Creek Road

The Central Federal Lands Highway Division of the Federal Highway Administration, in cooperation with the Pike National Forest, Colorado Department of Transportation and Park County, issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) in July of 2002 for proposed improvements to Colorado Forest Highway 81, also know as Park County Road 77 or Tarryall Creek Road. The proposed improvements begin at Jefferson, at the junction with US Highway 285, and extend 34.1 miles (55.2 kilometers) southeast to Forest Road 112, approximately 6.2 miles (10.0 kilometers) past the community of Tarryall.

The first section of this Project is currently advertised for bid. The bid opening date is April 27, 2006. This section begins at Jefferson and extends southeast either 8.6 miles (13.9 kilometers) or 13.0 miles (20.9 kilometers). The actual length to be reconstructed will be determined by the amount of the bids.

This schedule places the tentative start of construction sometime in June of 2006. Completion of the construction on this section is expected by September of 2007. Bidding information for this Project can be found on this website at the following link:
