The Central Federal Lands Highway Division of the Federal Highway Administration in cooperation with the National Forest Service is administering a construction project to improve 8.1 miles (13.04 kilometers) of Forest Highway 43 (AZ Highway 273), Apache County, Arizona. The project begins 8 miles (12.8 kilometers) south of the junction of AZ Highway 260 and AZ Highway 273 and ends at the junction of AZ Highway 273 and AZ Highway 261. Work consists of grading and drainage. Two bridges will also be constructed and the railroad berm at the West Fork Little Colorado River removed.
A construction contract was awarded to FANN Contracting (Prescott, AZ) on June 26, 2006 for the contract amount of $15,523,539.00.
