Engineering Applications...

The engineering applications section of the website presents a wide range of transportation problems and the state-of-practice of geophysical imaging and nondestructive test (NDT) methods that can be used to solve the particular problem. The problems are divided into six groups, Bridge System Substructure, Bridge System Superstructure, Pavements, Roadway Subsidence, Subsurface Characterization, and Vibration Measurements.

Bridge System Substructure
 Overview
• Determining The Unknown Depth of Foundations
 Integrity Testing
• Rebar Quality And Bonding To Concrete Within Concrete Elements
• Bridge Foundation Scour

Bridge System Superstructure
 Overview
• Deck Stability Analysis
• QA/AC Of New Decks
 Baseline Condition Assessment
• Condition Evaluation Of Existing Decks

Pavements
 Overview
• QA/AC Of New Pavements
• Condition Evaluation Of Existing Pavement
• Transportation/Geotechnical Methods
Roadway Subsidence
 Overview
• Mapping Voids, Sinkholes, Abandoned Mines, And Other Cavities
• Roadbed Clay Problems

Subsurface Characterization
• Subsurface Geophysical Mapping And Imaging
• Geophysical Methods To Determine Physical Properties
• Geophysical Methods To Image Buried Manmade Features

Vibration Measurements
 Traffic Vibrations
 Blasting Vibrations
• Construction Vibrations
 Vibration Recommendations
