FEQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

1. What is the Refresh Button button in the VisiData main menu?
2. What is the View > State... menu item in a Camera window?
3. How can I look at pavement distress data in the pavement video?
4. How can I view video images of the features in the PMS_Feature table?
5. What does the DRate/WiseCrax/*.1S0/*.810/Prompt/Transverse Profile/Map menu item do?

1. What is the Refresh Button button in the VisiData main menu? This is the Refresh button. Click this button to refresh the contents of the windows. Clicking the Refresh Button button is the same as selecting View > Refresh from the VisiData main menu, or pressing the F5 key. If you have not set your video paths, the Reset video settings window will appear. See the "Setting the video paths" topic in the FHWA VisiData Tutorial for more information on how to set your video paths.

2. What is the View > State... menu item in a Camera window? Selecting this displays information about the .jpg that is currently displayed in the Camera window. None of this information is useful for a typical NPS or FHWA user, with the exception of the video path. The file path of the video files is listed under setup: vpath=.

3. How can I look at pavement distress data in the pavement video? The pavement camera window that displays in the 0.02 Data and Patching workspaces can be treated like any other camera window. The distress data that appears in the grids and charts can be "verified" by zooming in and looking closely at the pavement cracking and patching visible in the pavement video. The pavement video image that displays shows the roadway that is visible in the forward-facing cameras in 52.8 foot sections. You can correlate specific sections by locating paint stripes, obvious pavement patches, or other landmarks visible in both the forward- facing video and the pavement video.

4. How can I view video images of the features in the PMS_Feature table? Select the Features workspace. In Grid 1, click the record of the feature you wish to view. In the main VisiData window, click the Play button. Approximately six video frames adjacent to the feature in the current record will play like a video. A few frames before the selected feature and after the selected feature will display. Then, the next feature down in the grid window will become the selected feature, and approximately six frames adjacent to it will display, and so on until all of the features in the table have been displayed.

5. What does the DRate/WiseCrax/*.1S0/*.810/Prompt/Transverse Profile/Map menu item do? Unfortunately, the VisiData 2.9.8 software interface displays many menu items, buttons, and checkboxes that are not functional for the NPS or FHWA user (including anything relating to DRate, WiseCrax, *.810 files, or *.1S0 files). See the known software bugs section for more information.
